Nearly 600 students from 76 countries graduated from Central European University this spring, marking our 20th anniversary commencement celebration. In addition to honoring our graduates, it was a moment to honor two people for their contributions to democracy and open societies with the Open Society Prize -- recipients this year were Javier Solana, the EU's former chief diplomat, and a posthumous honor to Richard Holbrooke, whose widow Kati Marton accepted the award on his behalf and delivered our annual commencement address.
